I got a call from a doctor who prescribed me Paxil in October. I’m taking it every day and I’m hoping to make it through the week, which I don’t plan on doing at the moment. My doctor said to take it before lunch to help me catch up with my work as a mental health professional.

I have two different doctors that are on it, so I’m just wondering if I need to be taking this medication. I’ve never heard of a doctor recommending it, and I can’t be sure of any specific reasons.

Does anyone know if this medication is safe or safe to take at a certain time of day or night? It seems like a good option at this point, especially since my wife is on it and has not been on it for years.

Any advice or other guidance would be appreciated!

Thanks

Poxil

Hi,

I have been taking Paxil for a while now and I have read that it can be helpful for some but not all. I’m not sure if that is true, but I’ve been taking it for the past couple of weeks, and while it’s not as strong as some of the other options I’m trying to keep at a manageable dose. I just hope it doesn’t come off too quickly.

Thanks for the advice

I’m on Paxil (lumacaftor), and my doctor has prescribed it for my anxiety and panic disorders. My doctor is on it and the panic attacks I’ve got have subsided in a few weeks. It is not likely that I’ll be able to take it at the moment, but I’m hoping to make it through the week, which I don’t plan on doing at the moment. I’m hoping I don’t have to start taking it again.

As for the prescription, I’ve read that it’s safe, but I am unsure how to give it to someone. I’ve been on it for a month. I’m not sure if it’s a good idea to take it for the week, but I’d say for a few weeks to a month, you need to be taking it to be sure it’s working. I’ve tried several other antidepressants and have not found anything to be safe.

Would you agree that I can take it to help with my anxiety?

I think Paxil is safe to take with the evening meal. Just because it’s on a low dose doesn’t mean it’s safe.

It’s safe to take it with the evening meal.

It may be best to stay in the house and not take Paxil with the evening meal as it can be dangerous.

Good luck

Thanks again for the advice

Health care providers prescribe Paxil to treat major depressive disorder (MDD), obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia, and other mental health conditions like anxiety disorders, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Depression, also known as major depressive disorder or clinical depression, is a mood disorder that negatively affects how you think, behave, and feel. Untreated depression can lead to a range of emotional and physical issues. The symptoms of depression may vary from person to person. They may appear mild in some, while they can be debilitating in others.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a chronic condition that causes unwanted and uncontrollable thoughts or fears (obsessions). These obsessive thoughts lead individuals to engage in repetitive behaviors (compulsions). Obsessions and compulsions can cause severe mental distress and interfere with everyday life.

Bulimia nervosa, commonly referred to as bulimia," is a potentially life-threatening eating disorder. Those with bulimia will go through episodes of “binge eating,” where they cannot control the amount of food they eat, followed by “purging.” Bulimia, if left untreated, can lead to extremely serious medical complications—even death. Due to the cycle of binging and purging, individuals with bulimia can seriously dehydrate themselves, damage their internal organs (including the heart and kidneys), and erode the enamel of their teeth.

Premenstrual dysphoria disorder is characterized by severe symptoms at the onset of menstruation. PMDD can cause extreme mood swings, irritability, depression, and physical symptoms like breast tenderness.

Paxil is also prescribed to treat anxiety disorders. A person who suffers from an anxiety disorder may have constant feelings of worry, difficulty concentrating, and an inability to relax. If left untreated, anxiety may eventually interfere with work or school performance, personal relationships, and other daily functions.

What is depression?

Depression is a generalised inability to satisfactorily control one’s own and other’s moods. It can result in significant emotional distress and negatively affect a man’s self-esteem, confidence, and relationship with his partner.
